Celebrate World Palliative Care Day

8 Oct 2022 - 14:00

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, health systems have been under tremendous pressure, allocating their resources to combating the pandemic emergency, at the expense of other essential care. In this context, serious illness, the end of life and bereavement were often raw experiences of isolation and loneliness. In an unequal world, many still feel the impacts of the pandemic and postponed diseases, heightened by new emergencies – armed conflict, extreme poverty, climate crisis, forced migration, food and health insecurity.

Under the motto “Healing Hearts and Communities”, this year the World Day of Palliative Care aims to draw attention to the importance of PC as a Human Right, but also as a fundamental dimension of public health policies, defending their proximity to people. and communities and equitable access by all who need them.
